A halloumopitta or halloumoti is a type of traditional Cypriot pie which is very popular in Cyprus.
As the name suggests it is made out of small pieces of halloumi and mint mixed in bread dough, usually in the shape of a small bread.
It has a particular taste which transfers the customs of the island.
A newer version of the traditional type is a halloumi cake. It is not very different to a cheese pie as it is not made of bread dough and has a soft texture.
Halloumi is added to the mixture and it is cooked in a cake tin and cut into smaller pieces.
