Cyprus originally had its main airport in Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus. However due to the 1974 war, the airport was occupied by the Turks. Therefore two new airports had to be constructed in order to cater for the people. One was built in Larnaca in order to cater for the people of Larnaca and Nicosia, while another was built in Paphos in order to cater the people of Paphos and Limassol.
Larnaca Airport is located in the south east part of the island and provides good access to the resort of Larnaca, as well as onward transport options to all of the popular Cypriot holiday resorts. Larnaca Airport is larger than Paphos Airport, therefore very large aeroplanes usually land at the Larnaca Airport. For the official website visit cyprus airports |
Paphos Airport is situated to the east of the resort of Paphos. Even though this airport receives less visitors per year than the alternative of Larnaca, it is popular with holidaymakers arriving on charter flights as part of holiday package deals. For the official website visit cyprus airports |
