Saints Sergius and Bacchus Chapel (Agiou Sergiou and Vakchou) - Kalopanayiotis

The iconic chapel of Agios Sergios and Vakchos is located in the village of Kalopanayiotis in the Nicosia District. The village is situated very close to Moutoullas, about 3 km to the north.

More specifically it is situated a few metres further from the Community Board building, in one of the most densely populated neighbourhoods of the village.

Its simplicity and the fact that it is situated so close to the yards of the surrounding houses is impressive. This increases the belief that these chapels were small family temples and that the saint the church was dedicated to, was the protector and helper of the family. The icon of the Virgin Mary Glykofilousa dated to the 14th century, belongs to this chapel.

The temple operates on the 7th of October which is when the saints are celebrated. Unfortunately this remarkable chapel is in danger of collapsing.
