Pervolia is a beautiful village, which is located at the south coast of Cyprus, at a distance of about 16 kilometres from the town of . It is built on the coastal plain of Larnaca and the location of the village has a slope towards the sea. The village of Pervolia is also decorated by a majestic beach of 4 kilometres.

The village of Vouni is located in the Limassol district, in the wine village region. It is built at an average altitude of 800 metres above the sea level. The village spreads towards a slope to the north.

The Celebration of the Holy Spirit

The Celebration of the Holy Spirit takes place on the Sunday of the Pentecost and has its roots from the Genesis of the Old Testimony, from Greek Mythology and Cypriot Folklore linked with the Goddess Aphrodite.

In Christianity, we celebrate the appearance of the Holy Spirit to Jesus’ students on the Sunday of the Pentecost, 50 days after His resurrection and 10 days after His Ascension. On Monday, we celebrate the Holy Trinity.

 

The Flood Celebration

Epitaphios

The Epitaphios is a religious, embroidered fabric with rich decoration depicting the dead body of Jesus Christ. It shows him after he has been taken down from the cross, as they prepare to bury him. It is often accompanied with images of his mother the Virgin Mary , as well as other forms such as John , Joseph of Arimathea, Mary Magdalene and angels according to the descriptions in the Gospels. In some cases the four Evanglists are shown in the corniers and in others Jesus Christ is alone with angels. It is used during the church services of Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

The programme for the creation of fishing shelters began with the establishment of the Department in 1964. The Limassol Carnival takes place for ten days, with happy and fun masquerades. The carnival is a big traditional celebration whose roots are lost during antiquity and which has been kept over the years and exists until today.

As a traditional celebration, Carnival has been celebrated in Limassol as well as the other towns in Cyprus over the last 100 years despite political or financial conditions, forming a celebration that gives people hope and positivity for a good year.
