The bat

The bat, a valued element of the Cypriot flora, is one of the peculiar categories of mammals. It contains 16 different species. Its peculiar way of life the odd shape and the prejudices lead humans to be indifferent towards these species.

Not knowing enough things about their biology and their habits as well as the important role which they play in the balance of the ecosystems and Mother Nature, humans hunted them without mercy.

Bats feed mainly on insects apart from the Egyptian fruit bat which feeds on fruit.
