The Panayia Theoskepasti Chapel is situated in the village of Kalopanayiotis in the Nicosia district. More specifically it is located a few meters to the east of the Agiou Ioanni Lambadisti Monastery.
It is also worth mentioning that the Chapel was built by the monks of the monastery as a hermitage or hideaway during the 12th century.
A large prinos tree is positioned in front of the chapel in order to protect it from the eyes of the enemies, which is also why it is called Theoskepasti. According to tradition, rumours were told in order to protect the tree from being cut. The tree is 700 years old and is under the protection of the Forest Department.
The mobile icon of Panagia Theoskepasti is kept in the Latin Parish which is attached to the temple of Agiou Eraclidiou and Ioanni Lambadisti. It is an excellent icon of the 14the century and is a replica of Panagia tou Kykkou, which displays Panagia Dexiokratousa. Other masterpieces from the same chapel are kept in the icon gallery of the village.
