The Deryneia Folkloric Museum is housed in an old traditional house on Dimitri Liperti Street in the village of Deryneia in the Ammochostos district.
It was donated by the couple Varnavas and Margarita Hadjiliasi in memory of their three children that died at a young age.
The construction was declared as a preserve and was renovated by the municipality. The configuration of the interior and exterior areas of the Folklore museum, as well as the various displays of household items and farming tools , have been done with the cooperation of the Cyprus Crafting Service and replicate the traditional Cypriot house as much as possible.
The Folkloric museum not only exhibits the tools of the traditional Cypriot household , but also the agriculture and farming tools used by a traditional farming family in the area.
All of the items were donated by the residents of the Deryneia Municipality, as well as the residents of the surrounding area.
The operation of the Folklore Museum is run by Mrs.Margarita and Mr.Varnava Hadjiliasi.
There is also a traditional oven at the museum courtyard that is used by Mrs.Margarita in order to bake bread and traditional koulouria (pretzels).
