The Platania Picnic Site is located at an altitude of 1100 metres , 6 kilometres from Kakopetria Village , on the road towards Troodos. It has a capacity of 1300 visitors and it is the largest and most popular picnic site in Cyprus.
The Platania Picnic Site is one of the most common picnic locations to visit, as it chosen by foreigners as well as local residents. It is situated in one of the most beautiful locations in the Troodos Mountains , at the point where the three forests (Adelfoi , Troodos and Limassol) meet.
To reduce the risk of forest fires of the excursionists, appropriate places in the forests several picnic and camping sites have been manufactured. Due to the offered facilities, excursionists congregate in these organized areas and therefore reduce the risk of fires from uncontrolled dispersion within the forests.
The picnic site has all the basic facilities for day trips, such as barbeques, drinking water, picnic tables and toilets. There is also access for wheelchair users.
