Sugar Coated Almonds (Koufeta Amygdalou)

Sugar Coated Almonds (Koufeta Amygdalou) are roasted almonds covered in a white layer of sugar and a rough texture. . They are made in the Municipality of Geroskipou in the Paphos district.

Their production took place in the community of Geroskipou by Sofokli Athanasiou in 1895. The art of their production has been transferred from generation to generation and the process has remained intact.

Sugar Coated Almonds are soft on the inside and hard on the outside, when chewed. The almonds are roasted and syrup is poured over them. They are mostly sold at celebrations, while they are also served at weddings and christenings.
