Pitta tis Satzis is a Cypriot dessert or snack made of dough. It got its name from the utensil used in order to make it which is a metal and round utensil in the shape of a dome called a “Satzi”. This is how the pitta was cooked traditionally.
There are many versions of making Pitta tis Satzis but most of them require traditional village flour, olive oil, salt and water. The dough is then rolled into thin layers and then made into circles or folded into squares. The layers are then are cooked in a pan with very little olive oil on a high temperature. The Pitta tis Satzis is filled with cinnamon and honey. Icing sugar can also be added.
It is an ideal sweet or snack to accompany your morning or afternoon coffee and tea.
