Mesaoria is a sweeping plain that completes the northen Cyprus centre. The land is flat, starting from Morphou Bay to Famagusta Bay and the centre of it is Nicosia. The Mesaoria plain rises upto 325m with an average elevation of 100m. Rivers such as Pedias and Lalias are crossing the plain but none of them have water for all the year.
The Mesaoria plain has an area of about 1000km² The Mesaoria word or sometimes "Mesarya" has the meaning of between the Mountains in Greek. In general, Mesaoria is a flat plain with few trees and plants and is considered as the agricultural heartland of the island. Mesaoria is also the most crowded region on Cyprus.
Weather conditions are not very comfortable in summer as the temperature rises up to 40°C on average.
