The church of Panagia Evangelistria is located in the centre of Kathikas village in the Paphos district, and is the main church.

The church was built in 1870 on the ruins of an older church which was dedicated to Saint Ipatio , the Saint of Kathikas village. The newly built chapel of Saint Ipatio was inaugurated in 2005.

The Panagia Evangelistria church is a stone built arched church with a beautifully decorated interior. The temple celebrates on the 25th of March which is the great celebration of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary.

It must also be mentioned that every year, the residents re-enact the events of Holy Friday.

The commune of the village takes over the role of Jesus and leads the procession from the Agios Onourfios chapel until the Panagia Evangelistria church.

The enactment of the crucifixion is one of the most popular customs in the Paphos district, attracting a large number of local and tourist visitors from many areas.
